Position: Field Compression Engineer (Amarillo, TX)

Field Compression Engineer

The position requires a strong interest and aptitude for rotating mechanical equipment. It offers exciting challenges and opportunities to address new issues daily. The engineer will provide technical expertise to maintain and improve the reliability of natural gas compression and ancillary equipment, including:

  • Low speed integral reciprocating engines and compressors
  • High speed separable reciprocating engines and compressors
  • Gas turbine engines and centrifugal compressors

Supported equipment ranges in horsepower and is manufactured by companies such as Caterpillar, Clark, Cooper Bessemer, Dresser-Rand, General Electric, Ingersoll-Rand, Solar Turbines, Wartsila, Waukesha, and Worthington. Ideal candidates may have experience in Refinery, Manufacturing, Railroad, Pipeline industries, or military service. Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for mechanical needs across various customers.
  • Assist in specifying natural gas compression equipment to optimize performance, reliability, maintenance, and lifecycle costs.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Interact professionally with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Organize work for timely completion and be prepared for overtime if needed.
  • Handle confidential information with judgment and discretion.
  • Communicate professionally in person, by phone, and email.
  • Travel up to 50%, including overnight stays, for site support, meetings, and conferences, with occasional weekend travel.
  • Assist in developing annual budgets for compression equipment.
  • Maintain attention to detail and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and high performance standards.
  • Be knowledgeable of company engineering specifications and safety regulations.
  • Prioritize safety for the public, personnel, and assets.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, control, and instrumentation drawings.
  • The primary work location is Amarillo, TX, but other locations will be considered.
