Job SummaryThe Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Construction Manager will work within the Construction Management Department and report to the Project Manager. They will collaborate with design professionals, clients, subcontractors, and craftspeople to address complex coordination issues across civil, architectural, and structural elements. The I&C Construction Manager will participate in design and constructability reviews and lead the onsite quality control program for the controls scope of work, including document review from preconstruction through commissioning and punchlist.
This position is project-site based.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $150,000 annually
Essential Responsibilities- Oversee controls subcontractor installation work daily to ensure they maintain installation schedules and support system startup and commissioning activities.
- Interface between Area Construction Managers and multiple subcontractors to coordinate Mechanical/Electrical startups.
- Coordinate Building Automated Control Systems with civil, architectural, and structural elements within the overall project design.
- Organize and facilitate training of control personnel in the operations and maintenance of Building Automated Control Systems.
- Participate in startup meetings with Area Construction Managers, Design Team members, multiple subcontractors, local utility agencies, and owners to coordinate/start up activities for MEP systems.
- Review and process project submittal information and assist Project Engineers with coordination between submittals to ensure accuracy and functionality of Building Automated Control Systems with various MEP systems.
- Receive and distribute RFIs and change documents issued by team members.
- Field survey of control lines and benchmarks.
- Assist in estimating Building Automated Control Systems budgets and staffing of the Building Automated Control Systems team.
- Secure Building Automated Control Systems subcontractors and equipment buyout; manage subcontractor contracts and contract modifications.
- Oversee billing and schedule of values for Building Automated Control Systems subcontractors and vendors.
Professional Experience and Education
- A minimum of five (5) years of building automated control system construction experience.
- Extensive experience in industrial and/or hi-tech semiconductor manufacturing projects.
- Experience working in a live high-tech facility.
- LEED Accredited Professional, or the ability to become accredited within eighteen (18) months (preferred).
- High School diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent degree/experience.
- Background in materials and methods of construction.
Position Related Skills
- Experience working in cleanroom environments.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365; general understanding of computer networks.
- Experience with project management software (Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
- Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
- Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques.
- Strong organization of technical data; familiar with CSI specifications.
- Thorough understanding of building automated control system construction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse trades on site.
- Team player with collaboration across departments and leadership levels.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate extended hours or off-shift work as needed.
