** SUMMARY
* * WIC) Nutrition Program helps pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children learn about nutrition to stay healthy. WIC plays and important role in improving birth outcomes, reducing food insecurity, promoting breastfeeding, and improving the diets and health of women and children enrolled in the program.

** ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Determines eligibility of applicants based on nutritional/medical risk assessment.
* Provides individual dietary/nutritional counseling and individual breastfeeding counseling.
* Teaches nutrition education classes.
* Obtains height, weight, and hematocrit/hemoglobin on participants and plots on appropriate growth grids.
* Scheduling appointments in a computerized format; follow up on missed and future appointments.
* Answering a multi-line telephone system and processing calls efficiently and expeditiously.
* Contacting participants via text and phone to upload documents and assisting them with the process.
* Presenting a hospitality, customer centered and caring attitude.
** KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
*** Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
* Strong verbal and written communication skill.
* Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
** A Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, Food Science, Food Technology, or Home Economics with a minimum of 12 semester hours in food and nutrition is required.  A valid driver’s license is required.“The City may consider all related education and/or experience in determining an applicant’s minimum qualifications and starting salary.”
