Position: DIETITIAN

Job Duties /Responsibilities

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing the nutritional status of the inpatient/outpatient population of NWTHS; developing a nutritional plan of care and implementing Medical Nutrition Therapy alongside an interdisciplinary team. The Registered Dietitian will assist with training and performance improvement as needed, and provide education to the community periodically.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Registered Dietitian/Licensed Dietitian registered in the state of Texas; or RD eligible.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association upon hire, or within 90 days of hire date.
  • One‑year experience as a dietitian in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Good written and oral communication skills required.
  • Typing and basic computer skills desired.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications preferred.
  • Must successfully complete the pre‑employment assessment.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others.
  • Ability to remain calm under stress.
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, lifting (10–30 lbs), grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, prolonged standing or sitting.
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard/metric measurement).
  • Will be subjected to cold when entering refrigerator and freezer as well as fumes from chemicals, cooking odors, gases and odors from patient rooms.
  • Potential hazards from cuts from knives and meat slicer and/or burns from cooking and heating surfaces.
