• BSA Hospital is a 445‑bed hospital serving the Amarillo area for over 120 years and continues to be Amarillo’s preferred healthcare provider. At BSA, the focus is to provide quality healthcare in Christian love, service, and dignity.

• Surgical First Assistants assist physicians in surgery and may perform specific surgical tasks under professional supervision.
• Significant surgical tasks include, but are not limited to: opening and closing surgical sites, exposure of the surgical site, harvesting grafts, dissecting tissue, removing tissue, implanting devices, and altering tissues.
• Perform the CST role when not utilized in the First Assistant Role.

• Current Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or eligible for Certification.
• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist School. Documentation of licensure and/or completion of technical training.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Current CST certification.

• 2 years of previous experience as a CST.
• Pervious CST-FA experience (prefer minimum 2 years Cardio‑Vascular).
• Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the CST.
• New employees who have completed and can document first assistant training or have maintained a current national First Assistant (FA) certification may work as an ST/FA following BSA policies and protocols.
