PositionSummary
Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards with all customer groups. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, house supervisor, and charge nurse, attends to patients’ direct care needs and performs tasks as delegated. Assists in delivering treatment, safety, and activities of daily living as part of a multi‑disciplinary treatment team. Performs duties such as observation rounding, medical procedures, leads topic‑specific groups, manages milieu, trains new employees, documents, and conducts safety rounds.

- Demonstrate proper infection control procedures by consistently using standard precautions
- Present a neat, professional appearance consistent with the hospital dress code
- Comply with local, state, federal and JC standards and guidelines
- Adhere to safety policy and procedures to promote safe work practices
- Demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures specific to position/department
- Maintain proper boundaries when interacting with patients and their families and co‑workers
- Seek direction or clarification from supervisor when necessary
- Treat patients with respect according to patient rights and responsibilities
- Communicate in a positive, compassionate and professional manner with patients, staff and visitors
- Check all mail and correspondence and respond to requests in a timely manner
- Demonstrate “cultural competence” by awareness of cultural differences and the impact of one’s own personal and professional values and attitudes (e.g., biases, transference) and willingness to adjust to cultural differences of patients and families

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations
Required:
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date, to be maintained throughout employment
- Must possess one of the following:
• 2 years’ experience providing patient care
• EMT certification
• Medical assistant certification
• High school diploma or equivalent
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
- Ability to stoop, kneel, sit, stand, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift, and move about in work area and throughout hospital to accomplish tasks, including finger pick, type, and grasp
- Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken work, conveying information accurately and on occasion quickly
- Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers
- Address and prioritize multiple task demands within established time frames
- Concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations, and foot traffic; consistently meet deadlines regardless of case load; flexible in work hours to meet patient and organizational needs
- Maintain self‑control in volatile or hostile situations when verbally or physically confronted
- Set therapeutic limits and maintain therapeutic distance with clients; maintain therapeutic boundaries with patients during treatment and following discharge
