Facility Manager at Ethos Energy
IntroductionEthos Energy is looking for a dynamic Facility Manager to lead a cutting‑edge 160 MW (net) 3‑GE 6B facility currently under construction in Amarillo, Texas. This is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in bringing a major energy project to life and ensuring its long‑term success.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the facility is operated in a safe manner and provide a safe work environment to minimize risk of accidents and injuries.
- Oversee all environmental reporting and testing activities; ensure required environmental programs are implemented and the facility maintains full compliance with all permits.
- Oversee all NERC and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and commercial commitments.
- Implement programs and activities that provide a work environment that promotes effective goal accomplishment, productivity, and morale.
- Optimize plant performance through appropriate utilization of manpower, equipment, supplies, and external support.
- Recruit, supervise and manage the facility staff to meet the goals and objectives of the facility and company; provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the team.
- Prepare the annual budget and facility operating plan.
- Responsible for purchasing, inventory, cost control, and cost management.
- Prepare monthly reports detailing significant plant activities and updates on the facility operating plan; include budget variance reports.
- Communicate effectively with site staff, management, facility owners, vendors, and outside agencies.
- Provide a weekly update to Ethos Energy covering significant issues and events at the project.
- Actively engage the owner in understanding their needs and expectations and demonstrate effective management skills to meet or exceed these needs.
- Enforce and comply with the operations and maintenance agreement.
- Prepare and submit to the facility owner, in a timely manner, all reports and information required under the terms of the O&M agreement.
- Provide recommendations to the owner on plant upgrades and enhancements that would improve reliability, performance, safety, or environmental readiness; include a cost‑benefit analysis.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of maintenance and outage activities, and provide outage reports to the owner summarizing significant events of the outage.
- Demonstrated track record of successful goal achievement.
- Comprehensive understanding of power plant operations and O&M functions.
- Working knowledge of chemistry and environmental/water treatment programs and statutory regulations.
- Understanding of budgets, bid proposals, contracts, LTSA, basic accounting principles, plant economics and power pool operations.
- Ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, logic diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Problem‑solving, clear communication, and training of other personnel.
- Knowledge of quality programs and tools.
- Analytical skill to interpret data and make professional judgments and recommendations.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of 12 employees.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent computer skills with experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project.
- Experience in operations of a simple or combined cycle power station (or both).
- Experience operating and maintaining large frame gas turbines.
- Desired experience operating aeroderivative gas turbines for possible future expansion.
- Substantial years of relevant experience, with a significant proportion in management positions.
- Desired greenfield experience in the development of a power plant.
- A four‑year degree or commensurate experience is desired.
- Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to work at heights and enter confined spaces.
- Position requires occasional travel.
