Ethos Energy is currently seeking Operations and Maintenance Technicians to join the team at our 3‑GE Frame 6B facility located in Amarillo, TX. The Operating Maintenance Technician (OMT) is a multi‑craft position requiring the technician to perform all functions related to power plant operations and maintenance.
Job Responsibilities- Competently operates and maintains a generating facility and all associated auxiliary and support equipment with minimal guidance or assistance.
- Make excellent operating decisions based on plant procedures, environmental regulations, safety procedures, and using good judgment based on operating data.
- Proficient at operating the plant via a remote distributed control system (DCS). Periodically, equipment may need to be operated locally via PLC panel interfaces.
- Communicate plant issues and keep Lead OMT and/or Facility Manager fully informed of unusual conditions, damaged equipment, and current job progress as the job relates to facility operations.
- Performs all functions related to plant operations including performing daily rounds, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, lockout‑tagout, and inspections.
- Complete outside operator qualifications and control room operator qualifications in a timely manner.
- Open and close circuit breakers as required for proper system operation and electrical isolation.
- Troubleshoot and repair all types of facility equipment.
- Use electrical test equipment and other similar tools as required.
- Perform mechanical maintenance of equipment as required.
- Perform maintenance on electrical systems in accordance with Ethos Energy electrical safety practices.
- Read meters, gauges, and DCS to monitor and record data such as temperature, vibration, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels.
- Maintain drawings and prints as required.
- Use facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair site equipment and ensure it is operated within manufacturer specifications.
- Utilize CMMS to report and update all corrective and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain the cleanliness of all areas of the plant.
- Perform contractor oversight and ensure safe work practices are adhered to.
- Work a scheduled shift which requires a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic computer skills.
- Familiarization with 40
CFR Part 75 and Part 60 environmental regulations. - Ability to operate fork trucks, man lifts, and other similar equipment as required.
- Read, understand, and comply with all regulatory and facility safety procedures.
- Experience in operations of either a simple or combined cycle power station or both is preferred.
- DCS experience is preferred.
- Experience in electrical generation is desired.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an industrial environment and the ability to demonstrate journeyman‑level knowledge in a maintenance craft.
- Experience with utilizing a corrective maintenance management system.
- Working knowledge of CEMS and DAHS systems preferred.
- Experience with the operations of low, medium and high voltage switch gear and transformers is preferred.
- High school graduate.
- Apprenticeship or technical trade school a plus.
- Frequent standing, walking, use of hands and fingers dexterously to operate tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate orally.
- Extended periods of sitting may be required.
- Work a 12‑hour shift rotation.
- Regularly lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
- Work overtime, callouts, and irregular hours as needed to support reliable operation of the facility.
- Approved hourly rate is $46.20–$50.61 based on education and skill set.
