Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Orthopedics

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Neuro/Ortho Med/Surg unit requiring at least 1 year of inpatient med/surg experience and NIHSS certification.

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient med/surg experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric conditions including CVA, mood disorders, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with pre/post neurosurgery care preferred
• Experience in orthopedics including ortho trauma and total joint replacement
• Experience with peripheral nerve block catheters preferred
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management

• Neuro/Ortho Med/Surg unit setting
• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly scheduling options
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Floating required
• Weekend shifts required
• Epic EMR used for charting
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this unit
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Onboarding core items/labs must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
