Northwest Texas Healthcare System (NWTHS) is a 495-bed system serving the city of Amarillo and the surrounding region.

Location:

Amarillo, TX. Salary: $51,272.00-$60,000.00.

Under general supervision, the Security Guard provides security services for the Security and Safety Department. Must maintain a Texas Private Security Level II license.

• Respond to radio, pager, telephone, or other requests.
• Respond to emergency calls for assistance.
• Respond to panic alarms within the facility and/or Pavilion.
• Conduct periodic inspection tours based on pre-determined priorities and conditions.
• Monitor CCTV security system, proficient in its use, and troubleshoot when required.
• Maintain logs of inspections as required.
• Complete incident reports for any criminal and/or civil situations.
• Participate in fire drills and other life safety awareness programs.
• Assist with mental health situations and attend De‑Escalation and Handle With Care training.
• Serve subpoenas and appear in court as needed.
• Provide escorts to law enforcement agencies, TDCJ, and mental health services; assist Child Protective Services.
• Register and log sex offenders; issue and log criminal trespass warnings.
• Perform lockups and unlocks of doors daily throughout the facility units.
• Enforce NWTHS parking and non‑smoking policies; issue written citations.
• Other duties assigned by Director of Security.

• U.S. citizen of good character with no felony or Class A convictions, including probation or deferred adjudication within past 10 years.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas driver's license with good driving record.
• Valid Texas Peace Officer or Commissioned Private Security Guard License (TCPS).
• Experience in arrest, search and seizure, interviewing techniques, and interrogation preferred.
• Handle with Care class required and maintained yearly.

• Lifting minimum 50 pounds; bending; fine hand/eye coordination; pushing and pulling; standing/sitting for prolonged periods.
• Tolerate high noise levels, extreme temperatures, and/or weather conditions for prolonged periods.
• Understand laws and regulations.
• Respond to pager, radio, telephone calls; discriminate color; perform basic math functions.
• Normal hearing; follow written and verbal instructions.
