PRIMARYPURPOSE:
Under general supervision, repair and maintain playgrounds and playground equipment for the school district and perform a variety of responsible maintenance, and grounds duties
Minimum Education:A high school diploma or GED, preferred
Certification / License:Valid Driver’s license required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Methods, equipment and materials used in general maintenance and playground construction
- Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies
- Basic record keeping both hand written and on computer
- Capable of assessing site conditions and initiating proper and logical steps to address problems/situations
- Detail Oriented
- Organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
- Operate tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Including but not limited to wrenches & sockets, drills, grinders, cutting torch, welder, tape measure, shovels, rakes, basic hand tools and power tools
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving; walking up and down stairs
Lifting: Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to repair and/or move equipment and objects
Environment: Frequent changes in tasks;
Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures and all weather conditions, dust, high noise level, vibration; exposure to chemicals, fuels and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
Regular attendance is an essential function
Minimum Experience:Experience in the maintenance field-preferred
MAJORRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintain and distribute fall materials in playground areas.
- Maintain play structures. Replace devices, tighten bolts, look for worn parts to replace.
- Check and maintain surfaces at play areas including containment borders around structures.
- Assistin installation of playground equipment, borders, and sidewalks at campuses.
- Assist project crews in other areas as needed.
- Maintain equipment utilized for projects.
- Convey to the Project Crew leader any needs or concerns related to playgrounds.
- Run a skid-steer, dingo, mini excavator, mowers, and related equipment used in normal landscape function.
- Estimate materials and procures the proper materials and supplies for completion of the work order/project.
- Operate hand/power tools and equipment required in the craft, using good safety practices.
- Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
