United Petroleum Transports is seeking a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair diesel engines and related systems.
Responsibilities- Prepare repair orders following company policy.
- Work safely and effectively within the shop and during road calls without supervision.
- Complete records promptly in accordance with company rules and requirements.
- Maintain and comply with DOT regulations, federal, state, and local standards regarding personal safety, shop cleanliness, and waste disposal.
- Communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor as required.
- Carry out duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or CSC Manager.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Acquire an ASE Brake certification within the first 180 days of employment.
- Meet the qualifications in Section 396.19 of FMCSRs for vehicle inspections.
- Meet the qualifications in Section 396.25 of FMCSRs for brake maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to safely operate a tractor/trailer unit within terminal premises.
- Technical knowledge of air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheels, springs, and other components that may exceed 100 lbs.
- Experience in inspections on specified cargo tanks if the facility is a DOT Registered Inspector.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and company policies.
- Self‑starter with detail‑oriented work habits.
- Professional demeanor, good interpersonal skills, and dependable attendance.
- Basic mechanics skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Ensure proper treatment of required components (air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheels, springs).
- Repair or replace domes, valves, vents, and other equipment as needed per safety, regulatory, and company standards.
- Perform inspections on specification cargo tanks in accordance with facility certifications.
- Stand for extended periods on concrete floors, reach above shoulder level repeatedly, walk, bend, push, pull, stoop, kneel, squat, and perform repetitive motions.
- Occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Normal shop environment with concrete floors.
- Work on sometimes uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
