This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Social Services Coordinator who will be all-in on our mission and who will provide intake triage and assessment services for the Advocacy & Resource Center that will connect students to campus and community resources to assist them with life barriers prohibiting their success as well as meeting their basic needs.
EDUCATIONRequired: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Social Work preferred. Licensure preferred.
EXPERIENCERequired: Two years of experience in educational counseling/social services environment.
Preferred: Experience in Higher Education Social Work/Social Services.
- Communicate, coordinate, refer and track services for students who are at risk of dropping out of school who are referred to the Advocacy & Resource Center (ARC).
- Support all services provided in the Advocacy & Resource Center including Social Services, Adult Students Program, Food Pantry and Baby Resource Room.
- Respond systemically to student needs.
- Connect students to community-based services and college resources.
- Manage cases by following Advocacy & Resource Center procedures and processes.
- Participate in activities to recruit and retain students.
- Refer students to the appropriate campus and community resources.
- File, track, and maintain various documents and records for the Advocacy & Resource Center.
- Provide assistance within the Amarillo College Food Pantry as needed.
- Assist Food Pantry Assistant with weekly data entry for Food Pantry visitors as needed.
- Attend and present information regarding the Advocacy & Resource Center as needed.
- Create partnerships with campus and community resources by maintaining knowledge of services available for Amarillo College students.
- Assist in maintaining the Advocacy & Resource Center website.
- Respond to Watermark Alerts that relate to Social Service needs.
- Complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.
- Assist with the Adult Students Program clerical work.
- Process and evaluate student basic needs assessment to identify problems/concerns and provide support to students identified through the assessment.
- Coordinate crisis intervention services with counselling department, campus first responders and/or community partners as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of social service delivery systems, campus services and community services.

Pay grade 12 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
