SummaryThis position serves as a Warehouse Worker located within the Receiving/Distribution area of the Logistics Service in the Veterans Affairs Health Care System. Responsibilities include receiving, storing, selecting, and shipping general and/or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment.
QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement – 01/05/2026. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X‑118C, using the job element method to match applicant abilities with job requirements. Qualifications will be evaluated against a prescribed screen‑out element and, if applicable, against remaining job elements. Experience and qualifications must be supported by detailed descriptions on your resume.
Minimum requirements include performing warehouse work involving receiving, storing, selecting, and shipping of general or specialized bulk materials and equipment; loading and unloading materials; routing materials and equipment to correct locations; and preparing shipping and inventory documents. The assessment questionnaire will evaluate job elements such as driver’s license requirement, ability to work without supervisory support, work practices, technical practices, instruction interpretation, knowledge of materials, dexterity, and safety.
Physical effort and work conditions include considerable walking, pushing and pulling carts, handling boxes weighing over 40 pounds, lifting equipment over 100 pounds, operating trucks and forklifts on uneven terrain, working in varied environmental conditions, and handling hazardous materials with potential for injury. Clear and specific responses are required; lack of supporting résumé details will result in no credit for questionnaire answers.
- Receives, stores, and ships bin and bulk supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Prepares shipping and inventory documents for manual or automated inventory systems.
- Selects specific storage locations within the framework of a general warehousing plan.
- Rotates stock, checks for outdated materials, and maintains appropriate safeguards and temperature controls.
- Handles delivery and warehousing of hazardous, flammable, and temperature‑sensitive products.
- Participates in inventory stock–taking and communicates discrepancies.
- Ensures products and shelving are marked with corresponding identification numbers.
- Loads and unloads shipments from trucks and other material conveyances.
- Makes off‑site deliveries in motor vehicles typically with a gross weight of less than 4500 pounds.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
