Construction Manager/ Foreman, Heavy Equipment Operator

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Crew Leader to join our field operations team. This role is ideal for experienced craft workers ready to take the next step into leadership — while still staying hands‑on with the work.
WhatYou’ll Do
As a Crew Leader, you’ll lead a small crew on active job sites, working side‑by‑side with your team approximately 90% of the time. You’ll plan daily tasks, ensure safety compliance, and communicate closely with the project Foreman to keep things moving efficiently and on schedule.
Responsibilities Crew Leadership & Productivity- Lead a crew of general and skilled laborers to meet daily production goals
- Set the tone by modeling punctuality, professionalism, and high‑quality work
- Maintain accountability and a positive, respectful team environment
- Plan upcoming work and coordinate material and equipment needs
- Understand and communicate scope details like grades and inspection requirements
- Maintain an efficient flow of tasks throughout the day
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures
- Identify hazards and ensure crew training and permits are in place (e.g., confined space)
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and meet quality standards
- Give clear direction to crew members on objectives and timelines
- Work closely with your Foreman to avoid delays and keep work on track
- Take ownership of crew performance and results
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience in heavy civil construction (e.g., concrete, excavation, utilities, mechanical work)
- Prior experience leading or supervising a crew (formally or informally)
- Clear, respectful communication skills
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
Ability to read and interpret basic construction plans and specs
- Experience across multiple scopes: dirt work, concrete, utility piping, mechanical systems, concrete restoration
- Task planning and material/equipment coordination experience
- Confined space and fall protection training
- Familiarity with tools and equipment (e.g., skid steers, compactors)
- Safe execution of tasks
- Meeting or exceeding daily production targets
- Effective crew coordination and task planning
