An Audio Visual Technician sets up, tests, operates, assesses, and repairs equipment required for live events, such as music concerts, sporting events, virtual classrooms, video conferences (e.g., Skype or Webex), and entertainment shows. These individuals work with projectors, sound systems, microphones, sound mixing equipment, overhead projectors, video cameras, recording equipment, adjust amplifiers, video screens, speakers, and lighting. An Audio Visual Technician aids educators, program producers, recording production engineers, and presenters to generate sound, images, and videos to produce live events, as well as small productions.

• Technicians monitor each project from the beginning to on-site implementation, estimating requirements for sound, projection, and lighting.
• Work with producers and directors and maintain equipment inventory and fix equipment issues.
• Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical suggestions and assistance.
• Run crews for shows and manage project and staging deliverables.
• Work with exhibitors, vendors, and event sponsors to ensure all details are taken care of.
• Prepare statements of work with precise budgets and timelines; make equipment purchasing recommendations.
• Perform testing of audio-visual equipment and fix issues related to video, audio, switching, and control systems.
• Support educators, program producers, and presenters to generate sound, images, and videos for live events.
