Pay: $23.00 to $25.00 an hour

BUILT is searching for an experienced Lab Technician to work with a lab team of scientists and support daily testing operations. Our ideal candidate will be willing to learn about new technologies and seek out ways to improve our current processes while also maintaining internal and regulatory requirements for accuracy and integrity.

Job Responsibilities
  • Daily tests of finished good products to ensure material is within specified parameters before being shipped out to consumers.
  • Weekly tests on environmental samples (swabs and/or water).
Functions Include
  • Performing routine microbiological testing on food products, environmental samples, raw materials, and finished goods following validated and approved laboratory methods.
  • Preparing media, reagents, solutions, and consumables according to established protocols, ensuring accuracy, sterility, and proper documentation.
  • Conducting sample preparation and processing in accordance with laboratory procedures, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining aseptic techniques during all laboratory procedures to protect sample integrity, prevent contamination, and ensure reliable results.
  • Operating, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment including incubators, autoclaves, PCR instruments, balances, pipettes, and other analytical devices as necessary.
  • Recording, documenting, and entering test results with accuracy, completeness, and timeliness in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or designated logbooks.
  • Following and upholding laboratory safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, handling of biological agents, chemical safety, waste disposal, and hazard communication.
  • Supporting method verifications, validations, and proficiency tests under the direction of the Laboratory Manager or Microbiologist.
  • Assisting in environmental monitoring activities, including swabbing, air sampling, trending, and documentation.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the laboratory, ensuring workstations, equipment, and storage areas meet GMP and audit‑ready conditions at all times.
  • Working overtime or adjusted schedules as needed to support production and testing demands.
  • Demonstrating accountability, ownership, and independent problem‑solving.
  • Upholding a culture of safety, professionalism, and scientific excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of laboratory instruments and good laboratory practice (GLP).
  • Proficient with Technology (Computers)
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and organize sample workload
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a micro lab
  • Working knowledge of microbiological principles such as PCR, media prep, aseptic sampling, enrichment, and organism identification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office tools like Excel, Outlook, and Word Preferred
Qualifications
  • College degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or another similar field preferred
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practice preferred but not required
  • Strong data analysis skills with understanding of basic statistical principles
  • Prior experience with HACCP, FSMA, and ISO 9000 & 9001 is beneficial but not required
  • Experience with ISO 17025 standards and expectations

This is a full‑time, on‑site position with early morning hours. Shift times may be flexible based on operational needs. The role requires working Saturday and Sunday, in addition to three weekdays. Dependability is essential, as availability and adaptability are critical to supporting laboratory operations. Remote work is not available for this position.
