Your day-to-day as an Assistant Swim Coordinator

As an Assistant Swim Coordinator at American Fork City, you will play a vital role in scheduling swim instructors and aides for afternoon and evening lessons while overseeing the smooth operation of PM swim instruction. Your responsibilities will include distributing lesson information and updates through Constant Contact, as well as creating and managing participation surveys to enhance our programs. You will collaborate with the coordinator to plan and facilitate swim instructor in-service trainings, ensuring that our team remains well-trained and effective.

Additionally, you will coordinate and assign private swim lessons, manage the availability of level pass cards, and assist in the hiring and onboarding of new swim instructors and aides. By serving as the primary contact for swim aides and conducting instructor evaluations, you'll actively contribute to program enhancements and drive improvements in water safety and swim instruction within the community.

To thrive as an Assistant Swim Coordinator at American Fork City, candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of the structure and flow of both group and private swim lessons. Knowledge of swim lesson levels, progression standards, and level pass criteria is crucial, along with a solid foundation in basic water safety principles and effective swim instruction methods. Previous experience in an aquatic or swim lesson program is preferred.

Strong communication skills are essential for engaging with staff, parents, and participants, as well as the ability to supervise, support, and motivate swim instructors and aides.

Experience in leading staff training and providing constructive feedback will enhance team performance. Excellent organizational skills are needed for scheduling and managing lesson coverage, while strong problem-solving abilities are required for real-time operational challenges. A collaborative, team‑oriented mindset, along with a commitment to exceptional customer service, will drive success in this role. Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification is mandatory for applicants.
