Job SummaryGSU Police Officers are responsible for the safety and security of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors. They perform a variety of duties related to the protection of life and property, enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, prevention of crime, and preservation of public peace. Officers perform basic police services in accordance with the mission, goals, and objectives of the Georgia Southwestern State University Public Safety department and in compliance with governing federal and state laws.

Responsibilities- Advise and respond to calls and complaints involving fire, traffic control, accidents, robberies, and other crimes.
- Conduct active patrol and police escorts.
- Patrol campus grounds; check doors, windows, gates, and parking lots to ensure security.
- Attend MISC meetings and conduct campus event security.
- Enforce traffic laws and assist in traffic control; secure all buildings daily.
- Investigate crimes against persons and property; collect evidence and secure crime scenes.
- Prepare various records and reports and testify or participate in court proceedings as needed.
- Perform related duties as required.

- Fire prevention techniques.
- Decision‑making under emergency conditions.
- Use and care of firearms.
- Oral and written communications.
- Emergency medical procedures.
