Job Description
OverviewAre you ready to take up a vital role in shaping some of our exciting projects? How about joining as Engineer in our talented Highways and Asset Services team based within Buckinghamshire Highways. We are looking to build upon our success and expand our successful Highways team and are seeking an Engineer to lead projects of varying sizes & scopes.
The successful candidate will be pivotal in implementing ideas that maintain and enhance the local network through working closely within the Buckinghamshire Highways Alliance and developing and delivering schemes. The works will include new schemes as well as major planned maintenance projects including active travel, carriageway, footways, drainage and safety schemes and you'll be part of the collaborative design teams based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
You will feel a great sense of pride in shaping high-quality designs across new build, renewal, maintenance, and assessment works and working with Alliance Partners to have a positive and sustainable impact on the network.
Whilst we offer flexible working policies, this role would require you to be base in our Aylesbury office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Your role- Working on a wide variety of highway projects at all stages of project lifecycle in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and best practice.
- Working in a BIM level 2 environment accredited to BS 1192 using Autodesk Civils 3D, AutoCAD and other engineering software for specialist applications.
- Providing technical support to graduates, assistant engineers, and technicians, checking and reviewing their work.
- Engaging with all stakeholders including clients, contractors, customers and other designers.
- Preparing technical documents and drawings for checking and approval.
- Agreeing delivery targets with senior staff and reporting regularly on progress towards milestones.
- Managing the delivery of your own projects and supporting project managers along with mentoring others.
- BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), and Incorporated Engineer would be an advantage.
- Proven capability and knowledge in highway engineering design (experience in highway drainage design will be an advantage).
- Knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and procedures including the application of departures from standard.
- Be aware of the philosophy and practice of Health & Safety in civil engineering design and construction.
- The ability to work under your own initiative and to seek advice when necessary.
