Location: The Chiltern Hospital in Great Missenden, United Kingdom
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time) – flexible shift pattern
Salary: Up to £53,000 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)
OverviewJoin our high performing team of theatre staff at The Chiltern Hospital to deliver world‑class care. The role requires leading the delivery of high quality, patient‑centred care across the peri‑operative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
- Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
- Maintain clinical credibility by demonstrating best practice, supporting others, and taking the lead in complex or high‑risk situations.
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
- Support the development and assessment of competencies within the team, promoting continuous professional development.
- Actively mentor and coach junior staff, including students and newly qualified team members.
- NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g., scrub, recovery, or anaesthetics).
- Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.
- Strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance.
- Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification (for scrub leads).
- ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
- Approved / recognised anaesthetic course.
- ILS.
- Excellent communication, organisation and mentoring skills.
- Commitment to personal development and supporting the development of others.
- Previous Surgical First Assistant experience in Orthopaedics is essential.
