Position:
Healthcare Assistant – Oncology (Bank) at The Chiltern Hospital in Great Missenden.

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated healthcare assistant to join our oncology department as a bank staff member. As a bank role you will work on an “as and when required” basis, supplementing staffing during busy periods and providing cover for staff on annual leave or absence.

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support; document intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, catheter care assistance, pressure area prevention and use of mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds and equipment.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalates concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.

Competitive hourly rate of £12.21 per hour.
