Summary of

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Statistics in the College of Liberal Arts and Science at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor specializing in forensic statistics.

Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising graduate students, providing professional and institutional service, developing and maintaining a high-quality research program, securing external funding, and collaborating with researchers in other disciplines. The successful candidate will have research experience or potential in statistics related to forensic sciences.

This position is affiliated with the Center for Statistics and Applications in Forensic Evidence (CSAFE), a NIST-funded Center of Excellence with state-of-the-art facilities and resources. The candidate will participate in Center activities and conduct relevant research.

Required

Minimum Qualifications:

A PhD or equivalent in statistics or a related field.

For Associate Professor:
An outstanding scholarly record with publications in top journals, teaching experience, and a proven record of securing research funding.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, training in data science or machine learning, potential for external funding, interest or experience in forensic statistics, and ability to collaborate across disciplines. Proven success in securing research funding and excellent teaching evaluations are also preferred.

Description:

The top-ranked doctoral program in Statistics, with about 140 graduate students, 100 undergraduates, and 38 faculty. CSAFE specializes in advancing forensic analysis through statistical research.
