Are you interested in providing leadership, management, and supervision for the Bridges and Structures Bureau within the Iowa Department of Transportation? We are looking for someone to help oversee two main units: the Bridge Design Unit and the Bridge Maintenance and Inspection Unit. You will play a critical role in developing and managing the portfolio projects in our 5-year transportation improvement program.
ShiftRequirements
Day shift, Monday – Friday, 8 hours typical (may be flexed), mostly in-person but telework is available, some overnight travel is required.
Administration and Management Responsibilities- Providing overall leadership and direction for the office.
- Creating an engaging environment where your employees can thrive by mentoring, coaching, and developing the bureau leadership team.
- Keep Iowa bridges safe by assuring compliance with bridge inspection requirements for all highway bridges in the state.
- Overseeing the development and administration of maintenance, rehabilitation, and replacement programs for all state highway bridges and structures. This requires establishing and overseeing long-term cost-effective strategies for maintenance, safety, and operations of state-owned highway bridges and structures, evaluating the performance of these strategies, and continually developing improvements to maximize performance.
- A degree in civil, construction, or structural engineering and be registered as a professional engineer in the State of Iowa.
- Valid Driver’s License
