Responsibilities

As a Ground Control Engineer, you’ll be a key player in maintaining the structural integrity of our underground mine. You’ll work hands‑on to ensure a safe working environment for our teams and help drive operational excellence.

  • Scope and inspect ceiling holes, logging data using AutoCAD and Excel.
  • Conduct ground control testing and develop remediation projects.
  • Review and support scaling, bolting, drilling, and blasting operations.
  • Assist in developing underground mine plans focused on safety and efficiency.
  • Prepare technical reports, schedules, and cost estimates for ground control efforts.
  • Analyze mine data to support engineering and operations decisions.
  • Inspect mining areas for unsafe conditions and recommend improvements.
  • Contributes to team success by performing other related tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in other areas of mine development planning including ventilation and water management.
Skills
  • Bore scoping and log scoping data into AutoCAD and Excel.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, corporate and contractors.
  • This role requires a strong sense of ownership and intellectual curiosity, as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to manage multiple processes in the mine related to ground control and ventilation.
  • Work with AutoCAD software for mine design.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining and Geology or equivalent experience.
  • AutoCAD and Excel experience.
  • Knowledge of MSHA and Environmental regulations.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license.

This job operates frequently in a maintenance and operations environment in an underground and surface mine location. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, manual dexterity, repetitive motion, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending and stooping, working from an elevated position and the ability to drive.

This is a full‑time position that regularly requires long hours and weekend work. Occasional travel will be required.
