Shift Requirements8:00-4:30, Monday-Friday, flexible schedule available, some overtime, some night work, and some overnight travel may be required.
Resident Construction Engineer (Transportation Engineer Manager) Responsibilities- Administer Transportation Construction Projects to ensure compliance with the contract documents and ensure that the overall concepts of the projects are met.
- Interpret, accurately obtain and apply necessary information from engineering related source documents/data; to determine completeness or feasibility, to document proposals or theories, search for precedents and seek out alternative procedures for engineering problems.
- Make timely decisions with no opportunity for consultation, to avoid project delays.
- Inspect completed and in-progress work for completeness and compliance with specification, standards, contract stipulations and safety.
- Develop or revise work priorities and schedules, methods, policies, procedures and specifications to carry out work objectives more efficiently, safely, and cost effectively, and insure accomplishment of department goals and compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Align team efforts with departmental goals and business plan objectives.
- Lead with a focus on commitment, transparency, accountability, and ethical behavior.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa Class C Non-Commercial Operator’s license.
- This position requires licensure by the Iowa Board of Engineering Examiners as a professional engineer and must possess a valid Professional Engineer’s license.

- c. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in chemical, civil, construction, environmental, materials, structural, or transportation engineering; engineering management; or a field closely related to transportation engineering.
Prior to appointment, applicants must possess active licensure as a professional engineer by the Iowa Engineering & Land Surveying Examining Board.
