Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review consumer loan applications thoroughly, including credit reports, income verification, employment history, collateral information, and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze borrower financial data, including income, debts, assets, liabilities, credit history, debt-to-income ratio, payment capacity, and overall risk profile.
  • Evaluate collateral for secured loans and determine whether collateral value, loan-to-value ratio, and supporting documentation appropriately protect the credit union.
  • Verify information provided by applicants by contacting employers, financial institutions, dealers, and other appropriate sources as needed.
  • Apply lending policies, underwriting guidelines, credit union procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations to each loan request.
  • Approve, deny, or recommend loan decisions within assigned authority and based on complete, objective analysis.
  • Recommend appropriate loan terms, including interest rates, repayment schedules, collateral requirements, and loan-to-value parameters.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with members and borrowers to clarify information, request additional documentation, explain loan decisions, and provide guidance on alternatives when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with loan officers, processors, contact center staff, branch staff, dealers, and other stakeholders to support accurate, timely, and member-focused loan processing.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential records of loan applications, decisions, documentation, and member communications in accordance with policy and retention requirements.
  • Monitor loan performance, repayment activity, and early delinquency indicators; partner with appropriate teams to identify and address potential concerns.
  • Support fraud prevention efforts by identifying inconsistencies, red flags, and potentially fraudulent loan activity.
  • Maintain current knowledge of lending trends, underwriting practices, regulations, products, and best practices through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Actively contribute to department goals, process improvements, team initiatives, and the overall success of the lending function.
  • Promote credit union products and services that meet member needs and support responsible lending growth.

  • Coach and train contact center loan officers and branch loan officers on lending practices, loan structuring, documentation, and member service expectations.
  • Encourage continuous improvement of processes, knowledge, service delivery, and lending outcomes.
  • Recognize excellent performance and support team members in achieving department goals.
  • Provide constructive coaching and documentation for performance…
