Job Description
SUMMARY Responsible for all aspects of safe machine operation in area of assigned responsibility including movement of finished product.
SCHEDULE 12 hour schedule. 7a-7p. 4 days on and 4 days off.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Randomly check parts produced every hour to ensure that customer specifications are met.
- Place parts in specified relationship to each other.
- Monitor flow of parts into assembling machinery, secondary equipment, and storage containers.
- Tend machines, such as presses and crystallized, within the molding area, according to machine (product) standard.
- Work at different work stations as production needs require.
- Work on line where tasks vary, as parts of various sizes and shapes move along the line.
- Assist in training new operators as needed.
- Check all finished parts for any possible defects (including grease, flash, punctures, and other defects).
- Complete daily report of parts produced and any scrap parts that resulted.
- Notify Lead Person, Mold Technician and/or Production Supervisor whenever items produced do not meet quality requirements, or if machinery need repair.
- Use calculator to arrive at accurate calculations of different production-related data.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Maintain housekeeping of work areas.

LEVEL OF AUTHORITYThe Machine Operator has the authority to shut down production equipment to prevent the production of defective product and place product on hold if it does not meet the customer/company specification.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTSThe Machine Operator has the responsibility to successfully complete the position training program found in the plant training manual.
QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES Certificate and training in safe forklift operation are required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
