Assistant Store Manager | Part-Time | In-Person Only

We are seeking a highly dependable, outgoing, and motivated Assistant Store Manager to help oversee daily operations at our small, independent pet supply store. This role is best suited for someone who takes attendance and reliability seriously, shows up consistently, and can be counted on to be present and engaged for every scheduled shift.

This is a fully in-person position. There are no remote or hybrid components. The role requires daily face‑to‑face interaction with customers, pets, and team members and hands‑on involvement in store operations.

Our ideal candidate builds genuine relationships, remembers customer and pet names, works hard alongside the team, and is committed to growing the business through increased sales, strong customer engagement, and effective marketing efforts. Experience with social media platforms and executing marketing campaigns is required, as this role plays a key part in promoting the store and driving traffic.

This position averages 20 to 25 hours per week.

• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality while setting the standard for reliability
• Deliver outstanding, personalized customer service and build long‑term customer relationships
• Lead by example with a strong work ethic and positive, engaged attitude
• Support sales growth through product knowledge, merchandising, and customer outreach
• Plan, execute, and support social media and in‑store marketing campaigns to increase visibility and sales
• Assist with employee onboarding, training, and performance support
• Analyze sales data and inventory using retail math to inform ordering and budgeting decisions
• Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular audits and controls
• Oversee POS operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency
• Assist with interviewing and hiring dependable, customer‑focused team members
• Ensure compliance with all store policies, procedures, and safety standards

• Proven record of excellent attendance, punctuality, and reliability
• Strong sense of accountability and follow‑through
• Outgoing, confident personality with the ability to remember customer and pet names
• Prior experience in pet retail management or a similar leadership role
• Demonstrated experience with social media platforms and marketing campaigns
• Strong interest in business growth, increased sales, and customer engagement
• Ability to lead and support a small team in a hands‑on environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable using POS systems and sales reporting tools
• Passion for pets and helping customers make informed purchasing decisions
• Multilingual abilities are a plus

Required Experience:

• People management: 2 years
• Retail pet supply sales: 1 year
