Hexcel is currently seeking a Extrusion Process Lead for our Amesbury, MA location.
Compensation: $27.04-$30.16 per hour.
Responsibilities- Lead and coach a team of 5+ production operators, ensuring daily manufacturing goals are met
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain single-screw and twin-screw extruders for profile, sheet, and compounding applications
- Perform setup and breakdown of extrusion/injection mold equipment and tooling, including die/mold design and prove-out
- Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and Quality to meet cost, quality, delivery, and safety targets
- Support process engineers in developing and refining extrusion profiles and compounding programs
- Maintain and update process documentation, setup sheets, and SOPs
- Write clear, concise work instructions for operators to ensure consistent and safe execution of tasks
- Use Microsoft AX and Apriso systems to update Bills of Materials (BOMs), production routes, and process flows
- Promote a "Safety First" culture through daily Positive Safety Engagements
- Maintain 5S standards in equipment layout and workspace cleanliness
- Collect and analyze process data using statistical tools (e.g., SPC, DOE) to optimize extrusion parameters
- 3+ years of experience in thermoplastics extrusion, injection mold and/or compounding operations
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with extrusion die design and thermoplastic material behavior
- Experience with 5S, lean manufacturing, and safety engagement practices
- Proven leadership or team coordination experience in a production setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft AX and Apriso for manufacturing data management
- Ability to write and maintain operator-level work instructions and process documentation
- Use CAD software (e.g., Solid Works) to review or modify tooling designs
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
