JOB SUMMARY:

The Industrial Machinist maintains, services, and modifies all machinery in the plant

JOB TASKS:
  • Operate and maintain machines such as conventional milling machines, lathe, drill press etc.
  • Communicates planned activities and commitments daily at department board meetings
  • Reviews daily Work Order assignments: plans, organizes, executes, and documents scheduled work
  • Documents in the Work Order system all activities completed for equipment and building assets
  • Reviews drawings, blueprints and or samples to ensure accuracy during the fabrication process
  • Maintains assigned tools and instruments in good working order
  • Reviews the condition of assigned equipment on a daily and weekly basis
  • Performs Standby duties as scheduled
  • Perform repairs to the machinery as required.
  • Conducts shift exchange communications with incoming shift
COMPETENCIES:
  • Above-average mechanical skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and effectively interpret and communicate equipment documentation
  • Attention to detail and precision
  • Ability and committed to working safety with all hand tools and floor tools, ability to anticipate hazards and react appropriately to mitigate risk
REQUIRMENTS:
  • Complete testing per WI 6.2.1.2 – General Hiring Practice Guidelines
  • Industrial Machinist Red Seal License or equivalent and proven abilities
  • High School Diploma
  • Rotating Shift work
PREFFERED:
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment
  • Recognized provincial and or interprovincial ticket
  • Ability to use precision tools to take accurate measurements
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
  • Knowledge of metal properties and other materials
  • Machining and rigging experience
  • Forklift License an asset
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Internet, email, and electronic, SAP work order system would be an asset but training will be available.
