Job Description
We are seeking a part‑time, cheerful, positive and resilient individual to join our team as a Medical Receptionist. The ideal candidate will have experience answering phones and interacting with patients, be IT‑literate and enjoy being part of a high‑paced working environment. The ability to multi‑task and have attention to detail is essential. Full training for this job is offered but previous experience is an advantage.
The position will be for 20 hours per week. Rotas are provided two months in advance. Shift hours are not given. It is essential that the applicant can work at both our Ammanford and Tycroes sites as required.
Responsibilities- Greet patients and visitors in an inviting manner.
- Answer telephone calls according to company policy.
- Provide administrative support to clinicians and other health‑care providers.
- Maintain office records and files.
- Assist in the management of the flow of patients.
- Answer patient’s questions in a courteous manner.
- Make, cancel and rearrange appointments via the clinical system.
- Support and assist clinicians as required.
- Arrange interpreters as necessary.
- Ensure up‑to‑date patient information is recorded.
- Give test results where appropriate.
- Deal with requests and completed medical reports, including the receipt of fees for such reports.
- Each morning, open premises and perform security, heating and ventilation checks.
- Each evening, perform the lockdown procedure, set alarms and lock premises.
- Support with managing prescription requests.
- Monitor incoming electronic test results to ensure prompt review by clinicians.
- Data‑entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information.
- Retrieve paper notes from storage as requested.
- Photocopy documents as required.
- Open and distribute practice post as instructed.
Hours of work: part‑time 20 hours per week between the hours 08:00am - 18:30pm Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays.
Person SpecificationBasic IT literacy and an ability to use the clinical system confidently.
Experience- Experience answering phones and interacting with people.
- Experience is an advantage but not essential.
