Come and join our team We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Textiles for maternity cover. The successful candidate will teach Textiles across all Key Stages, with Years 7, 8 & 9 Textiles taught through Design & Technology, alongside delivering Textiles through Art & Design in Years 10 & 11 and Art Textiles in Years 12 & 13.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and creative practitioner who is passionate about inspiring students through the exciting and diverse possibilities offered by Textiles. They will have high expectations of all learners and be committed to developing students’ creativity, practical skills, critical thinking and confidence. The Governing Body is committed to appointing a successful candidate who is:

  • An enthusiastic and knowledgeable Textiles specialist, consistently delivering excellent and engaging lessons
  • Passionate about motivating, challenging, supporting and inspiring our students
  • Creative and innovative, with a strong understanding of contemporary Textiles practice
  • Experienced in teaching Textiles across the full age range, including GCSE and A Level
  • Confident in delivering Textiles through Design & Technology at Key Stage 3
  • Committed to developing students’ practical, creative and independent skills
  • Ready to be fully immersed in delivering Ysgol Dyffryn Aman’s vision for the Curriculum for Wales
  • Able to contribute positively to the wider life of the department and school

About the School

Ysgol Dyffryn Aman is a thriving, successful Category 2B bilingual secondary school, located at the edge of the Brecon Beacons in Carmarthenshire. We are an 11–18 school, showing healthy growth in pupil numbers in recent years, educating approximately 1,500 pupils in total, with over 200 within our dynamic Sixth Form.

At Key Stage 4, the successful candidate will deliver Textiles through Art & Design, while at Key Stage 5 there will be the opportunity to deliver Art Textiles at A Level.
