Financial Controller EMEA Amsterdam | Lead Regional Accounting Across 50+ Entities

A globally recognised technology business is seeking an ambitious and people-focused Financial Controller EMEA to join its Global Accounting Organisation in Amsterdam. This is a unique opportunity to oversee the accounting activities of more than 50 EMEA entities, lead a sizeable regional team, and play a key role in driving process excellence, governance, automation and continuous improvement across a dynamic international environment.
Reporting to the EMEA Senior Controller
, you will lead a team of approximately 10-15 accounting professionals and partner with stakeholders across Finance, Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit, Payroll and Operations.
This position offers the ideal next step for a qualified accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for leadership, operational excellence and stakeholder engagement.
You will take ownership of regional accounting activities, ensure robust compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP and SOX requirements, and help shape the future direction of the EMEA accounting function through innovation and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Financial Control & Operations- Oversee accounting activities across 50+ EMEA entities
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP and internal control frameworks
- Manage relationships with outsourced accounting providers across multiple jurisdictions
- Partner with Accounts Payable, Payroll and wider Accounting teams to drive consistency and operational effectiveness
- Lead and coordinate regional month-end close activities
- Review financial results and provide meaningful analysis of key movements and trends
- Ensure timely preparation and sign-off of financial reports, reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Deliver accurate balance sheet and P&L reporting across the region
- Ensure compliance with SOX, statutory, tax and regulatory requirements
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors and accounting advisors
- Partner with Internal Audit on reviews, enquiries and remediation activities
- Support statutory filings and local compliance obligations across multiple countries
- Identify opportunities to improve, standardise and automate accounting processes
- Drive finance transformation and cross-functional improvement initiatives
- Support the execution of the Global Finance and Accounting roadmap
- Contribute to complex international projects impacting finance operations
- Collaborate with Treasury, Tax, P2P, Financial Systems, Risk & Controls and other key stakeholders
- Support regional tax planning and compliance activities alongside the Global Tax team
- Influence decision-making and help drive organisational change across the business
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing EMEA accounting team
- Manage performance, workload allocation and professional development

You are a qualified finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced international environment and has a genuine passion for leading people and driving improvement.
We're looking for:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business
- Professional qualification such as RA, CPA or equivalent
- Approximately 6-8 years' experience within Big 4 and/or a multinational corporate environment
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS and SOX
- Proven experience leading and developing teams
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, hands-on and solutions-oriented mindset
- Ability to influence and drive change across a complex organisation
- Fluent English, both written and spoken
- Experience with SAP or comparable ERP systems is advantageous
