The position is based in Amsterdam and frequent travel to Ansbach, Germany, is expected, as the majority of the EMEA Accounting & Control organization is located there.

The Director Financial Accounting & Control EMEA is responsible for leading the EMEA accounting, financial control, statutory reporting, compliance, and finance transformation agenda.

The role is accountable for ensuring robust accounting operations, strong internal controls, high-quality financial reporting, and compliance across all EMEA entities. In partnership with US Corporate Finance, the role provides leadership over the EMEA reporting and consolidation agenda, ensuring the integrity, interpretation, and communication of consolidated financial results affecting the region.

The position serves as a strategic finance leader, partnering closely with US Corporate Finance, Tax, Treasury, and regional business leadership to strengthen governance, reporting quality and operational excellence across EMEA. The successful candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with proven leadership capabilities and experience driving finance transformation in complex international organizations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the EMEA Accounting & Control organization, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Treasury, and Financial Control.
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
  • Serve as the regional technical accounting authority, ensuring consistent application of US GAAP, local statutory requirements, and Group accounting policies.
  • Lead EMEA reporting and consolidation activities and act as the primary interface with US Corporate Finance.
  • Ensure the timely preparation, audit, and filing of statutory accounts across EMEA jurisdictions.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax authorities, regulatory agencies, and external advisors.
  • Drive remediation and resolution of accounting, audit, tax, and compliance matters.
  • Lead finance systems, reporting, and process transformation initiatives, including automation, standardization, and data governance improvements.
  • Partner with Corporate Treasury to ensure effective liquidity management, cash forecasting, and treasury governance.
  • Build and develop a high-performing accounting and control organization across the region.
Qualifications
  • EU Citizenship and/or valid work permit is required. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Professional accounting qualification (WP (Germany) / RA (Netherlands) / ACCA / CPA / Big 4-trained Head of Accounting).
  • 10-15+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial control, consolidation and reporting within an international environment.
  • Proven experience leading accounting organizations and developing high-performing teams.
  • Hands‑on experience with group consolidation across multiple legal entities.
  • Demonstrated success implementing consolidation and financial reporting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and German GAAP (HGB); exposure to Dutch and UK statutory reporting requirements is desirable.
  • Strong SAP experience; exposure to SAP Group Reporting and BPC.
  • Fluent English is required;
    German language skills are a strong advantage given the location of the Accounting & Control organization and regular interaction with auditors, advisors and authorities in Germany.
