About the RoleAs an Indirect Tax Senior on our Finance team, you will own day-to-day global indirect tax (VAT, GST, sales tax) compliance and indirect tax accounting processes.
To drive success in this role, you will bring strong international indirect tax technical expertise across EMEA, APAC, Canada, US, and Lat Am, robust tax accounting capabilities, and hands‑on experience scaling tax operations in a fast‑paced tech or financial services environment. You will manage end-to-end indirect tax filing operational workflows globally, perform month-end and quarter-end tax accounting tasks and reconciliations, and optimize workflows across multi-jurisdictional transaction flows.
Regular collaboration with Product, Legal, Financial Reporting, and Regional Finance teams will be key to ensuring accurate filings and audit‑ready reporting standards.
- Global Tax Compliance: Own end-to-end global indirect tax compliance (VAT, GST, Sales/Use Tax, IPT) processes for local Cover Genius entities across EMEA, APAC, Canada, US, and Lat Am, ensuring accurate and timely filings and remittances across all active markets.
- Month-End Close & Reconciliations: Manage the indirect tax month-end close process, including preparing tax journal entries, GL balance sheet reconciliations, and reserve analyses.
- Tax Determination: Review tax determination logic for new insurance and non-insurance product offerings.
- Audit Support: Support annual financial statement (FS) audits by preparing work papers and responding directly to external auditor requests.
- Tax Automation & Systems: Assist with the evaluation, scoping, and implementation of automated tax engines to streamline compliance workflows for both general indirect taxes and IPT.
- Audit Defense & Authority Inquiries: Assist with tax authority inquiries, notices, and audit defense strategies globally to minimize financial exposure and operational risk.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Product and Legal to embed tax requirements into internal billing architectures, ERP systems, and platform infrastructure.
- Legislative Monitoring: Track global indirect tax policy and legislative changes to proactively adapt tax configurations and operational workflows.
- Experience: 4–6 years of progressive indirect tax experience within a multinational technology, insurtech, fintech, or Big 4 / public accounting environment.
- Technical Expertise: Proven, hands‑on experience managing global VAT, GST, US Sales/Use tax, and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) compliance and tax accounting procedures.
- Systems Proficiency: Advanced proficiency with cloud ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite). Hands‑on experience implementing tax automation tools or tax engines is a plus.
