Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location:
Netherlands (data centre construction site)
Contract Type:
Permanent
Reports to:
Contracts Operations Manager
Start Date:
ASAP
About the Role Our client is a mechanical contracting company delivering a hyperscale data centre construction project in the Netherlands, with approximately 50 operatives currently on site and further growth planned. The site has scaled rapidly, and the client is implementing a full-time Health and Safety Advisor role to strengthen safety oversight, incident reporting, and compliance documentation across the project.
This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Contracts Operations Manager, with the opportunity to grow into a wider role covering multiple international projects as the client's operations expand across the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, and the UK.
Key Responsibilities Take ownership of accident and incident reporting, ensuring all documentation is accurate, timely, and audit ready
Monitor site safety performance and proactively check in with site teams to identify and address risk before incidents occur
Prepare for and support a monthly external safety audit, covering documentation, training records, training matrices, and tracking of materials, lighting, and equipment
Identify training needs across the site workforce and put forward recommendations for who requires training and when
Maintain and improve recording and documentation practices, suggesting new ways of working where current systems fall short
Act as the primary point of contact for all health and safety matters on site
Support a compliance focused site environment with multiple moving parts, ensuring the team stays ahead of requirements rather than reacting to them
Requirements Minimum 3 to 4 years of experience in a health and safety role within construction. Prior data centre experience is not required
Relevant health and safety qualification (for example VCA, NEBOSH, or equivalent)
Strong documentation, reporting, and audit preparation skills
Comfortable working in a fast paced, rapidly scaling site environment
Good judgement and independent decision making. Candidates with strong intuition and the right attitude but less direct experience will also be considered, with scope to grow into the role
EU work authorisation required
Working Pattern Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm (50 hour week)
Rotation open, preferably 11 days on and 3 days off, though a standard weekly rotation can be accommodated if preferred
Travel and accommodation arrangements to be confirmed as part of the offer
Why This Role The client has a strong track record of staff retention, with many team members staying 10 or more years. This is attributed to competitive pay, a low micromanagement culture, consistent project pipeline, and genuine progression opportunities from site level through to leadership. Leadership within the business has itself progressed from hands on trade roles, and the culture reflects that background.
