This is the role
As the Market Director, Content for the Netherlands, you define and execute an integrated content and platform strategy in close partnership with Podimo-owned studios (Dag&Nacht and Tonny Media), local publishers and creators, and global Platform teams, with clear ownership of the content and platform KPIs that underpin growth, engagement, and monetisation. You’ll get full ownership of content investment decisions, budget discipline, forecasting accuracy and the definition, tracking and optimisation of KPIs, balancing bold creative bets with rigorous performance management and transparent reporting against market and global targets.
A critical part of the role is to embed global processes, KPI frameworks, and operating models in‑market, champion new ways of working, and ensure clarity of ownership, accountability, and decision‑making across teams. The role is based in our Amsterdam offices. Some travel activity to our HQ in Copenhagen and our offices in our other markets is to be expected.
What You’ll Do
Team Leadership & Development:
Provide senior leadership to the market content team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and high performance. Champion cross‑functional collaboration across local and global teams.
Market Leadership & Strategy:
Develop and execute the market’s content strategy, serving as the market’s editorial figurehead to ensure content drives audience growth and strengthens the brand.
Commissioning & Portfolio Ownership:
Working closely with the Head of Content, lead the commissioning and acquisition of original and exclusive podcasts. You will fully own the Greenlight process for new content, ensuring every title and the overall slate deliver against ambitious service‑level and title‑specific goals.
Commercial & Deal Execution:
Own content investment decisions, budget discipline, and forecasting accuracy. Work closely with Legal and Business Affairs to secure commercially astute deals with creators and partners that align with our strategic and financial goals.
Creator & Industry Relationships:
Build and maintain high‑level relationships with top creators, production companies, and talent representatives, representing Podimo in key industry forums.
Audience & Performance Insight:
Leverage audience insights, performance metrics, and competitive intelligence to guide content planning and programming, ensuring long‑term content impact.
Stakeholder Management:
Own transparent reporting and present strategic impact and performance updates to the Chief Content Officer and Lead Team.
This is you
8+ years of progressive leadership experience within the audio, podcast, and/or broader premium media/content industry/subscription (e.g., streaming services, television, publishing, digital media).
Proven track record of leading, supporting, and developing high‑performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and seamless cross‑functional collaboration.
Exceptional ability to balance high‑level strategic editorial and commercial judgment. Proven expertise in budget ownership, investment planning, and complex deal negotiation for content acquisition.
Solid data‑led approach to content programming and optimisation, leveraging performance metrics and audience insights to drive growth, engagement, and monetisation KPIs.
Strong executive stakeholder collaboration skills, with the proven ability to operate effectively within a global, matrixed organisation, driving alignment between local market needs and global strategic priorities.
Deep understanding of the Dutch media market dynamics, creator landscape, and consumer behaviour. Fluency in Dutch and English is essential.
Naturally, being passionate and knowledgeable about podcasts, audio content, media, and entertainment is a big plus!
