Senior Originator

I’m currently working with a high-growth, well-backed player in the environmental markets space that’s looking to appoint a  Senior Originator/Trader  to help scale its commercial trading activities.

This is a senior, high-impact role suited to someone who combines strong market expertise with a proven ability to originate deals, manage risk, and drive revenue across environmental products.

The opportunity:

You’ll take ownership of a trading portfolio spanning carbon markets, Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs), and low‑carbon fuels, while playing a key role in shaping commercial strategy and expanding market presence. Operating within an entrepreneurial, fast‑scaling environment, you’ll also contribute to building trading infrastructure, developing processes, and mentoring junior team members.

What you’ll be doing :

Leading market analysis and translating insights into actionable trading strategies

Owning P&L and driving performance across a diversified trading book

Structuring and executing complex transactions (e.g. structured deals, arbitrage, long‑term agreements)

Originating and closing high‑value commercial opportunities

Building and maintaining senior relationships across utilities, corporates, developers, and financial institutions

Managing risk exposure and optimising portfolio performance

Representing the business in market‑facing and strategic discussions

Supporting the build‑out of trading processes, systems, and team capability

What we’re looking for:

3–6+ years’ experience in energy or environmental commodities markets

Strong track record in deal origination and revenue generation

Deep understanding of carbon, EACs, renewable gas or related markets

Excellent commercial instincts and negotiation skills

Ability to operate autonomously in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment

Leadership capability or a clear trajectory toward leading a function

Genuine interest in the energy transition and sustainability
