About us
At  Damen Civil & Modular Construction (C&MC),  we specialize in the design, sales and executing of new shipyards at green field locations. We claim to be the best designers of new shipyards, since we are a user of these assets as well. Once the shipyard, with all associated aspects, is effective we will assist our customer in building the facility as well.
Prior to the design and bidding process we execute all necessary surveys at location abroad to gather information needed.
Our team includes dedicated purchasers, secretarial staff, controllers, engineers, production supervisors, work preparators, estimators and project managers. Each project is led by a team composed of employees from C&MC, other departments, and external (international) suppliers.
The role
In this role, you will be stationed abroad for longer periods responsible for planning, coordinating, and preparing engineering projects to ensure their successful execution. As a Site Manager you will manage a team of Supervisors (ExPats) as well as a bigger team of local work force. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient and timely completion of projects while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and costs.
Key accountabilities
To manage and control a foreign civil project ( € 20.000K).
Project Planning and Coordination:
Develop detailed project plans, timelines and schedules. Coordinate with various stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, suppliers, and clients, to ensure alignment and smooth project execution.
Resource Management:
Investigate and secure that a dedicated team will be formed. This team comprises of ExPat-specialists and (many) local workers
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Implement safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits to maintain a safe work environment.
Quality Assurance:
Monitor the quality of work on-site, ensuring it meets or exceeds project specifications and industry standards. Conduct inspections and address any quality issues promptly.
Communication and Reporting:
Maintain open lines of communication with project stakeholders. Provide regular updates to senior management and clients on project progress, milestones, and any issues that arise.
Problem Solving:
Address and resolve any issues or obstacles that arise during the project. Use problem-solving skills to find effective solutions and keep the project on track.
Project Documentation:
Maintain accurate project documentation, including blueprints, permits, inspection reports, and progress records. Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and filed appropriately.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Address their concerns and ensure their satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Travel Coordination:
Manage the logistics of travel for team members, equipment, and materials to and from international project sites. Coordinate with local teams and authorities to ensure smooth operations.
Cost Control:
Monitor project budgets and control costs. Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.

Skills & experience

Education and Experience:

Extensive (foreign) experience in site management with a proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects. No specific academic degree is required, but a solid understanding of civil engineering or construction management is preferred.
Leadership and Team Management:
Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing diverse teams and driving project goals.
Technical Knowledge:
Solid understanding of construction techniques, engineering principles, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Project Management:
Ability to plan, schedule, and oversee complex projects.

Experience with project management software is beneficial.
Communication

Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Problem-Solving Abilities:
Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues and find innovative solutions.
Safety and Compliance Knowledge:
Familiarity with safety regulations and practices, with experience implementing safety protocols.
Budget and Cost Management:
Understanding of budgeting and cost control. Experience managing project budgets effectively.
Travel Flexibility:
Willingness to travel internationally, often for extended periods.
