A leading global manufacturer within the specialty chemicals and industrial manufacturing sector is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineering Manager to lead and enhance process safety initiatives across multiple production facilities. This role is responsible for supporting chemical batch manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, NFPA, and industry safety standards while driving continuous improvement and operational reliability.
Responsibilities
Lead and maintain OSHA PSM and EPA RMP programs across manufacturing facilities
Serve as the subject matter expert for all 14 PSM elements
Lead PHAs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, RCAs, incident investigations, and compliance audits
Manage Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) processes
Partner with Operations, EHS, Quality, Engineering, and R&D teams to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations
Support capital projects and process improvements within chemical processing environments
Maintain PSM documentation including P&IDs, SOPs, process flow diagrams, and engineering records
Lead emergency response planning and coordinate drills with local emergency responders
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process safety, reliability, and operational excellence
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline
5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, coatings, specialty chemicals, or related process industries
Hands‑on experience supporting or managing OSHA PSM and/or EPA RMP programs
Strong knowledge of process hazard analysis methodologies including HAZOP and LOPA
Experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, and process safety compliance
Familiarity with RAGAGEP standards including API, ASME, and NFPA
Project management and capital project experience preferred
Lean, Six Sigma, CSP, ASP, PMP, or related certifications are a plus
