Design & Proposal Engineer

Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam is an independent maritime engineering company focusing on concept and basic designs. With our three engineering departments (vessel design & conversion, equipment design & upgrades, and operational engineering), we’re able to provide complete design packages for a wide range of projects in various maritime markets. This relates to markets like dredging, subsea, offshore wind, renewables, and heavy lifting.
Currently, we’re looking for a Design & Proposal Engineer who will be responsible for the technical sales process for these design packages. You’ll be involved in different stages of the project, working on concepts and designs until the final quotation and proposal for our clients. Unique in this job is the wide variety of maritime markets you will be working in.
You will be part of the commercial team, cooperating with our Commercial Director, Technical Sales Managers, and Lead/Project Engineers to determine the scope of work, conduct risk analysis, prepare quotations and estimations, and set the right contract conditions up to the final proposal. When the project is awarded, you’re responsible for transferring the scope to the engineering departments. During this process, you’ll be in close contact with our clients and will visit them regularly.
For this position, we’re looking for someone with a solid (naval) engineering background, experience in concept and (basic) design engineering, who is commercially driven and willing to travel regularly (within the EU frequently, occasionally to the US).
