Maintenance Plan Development Engineer

JBT Marel is looking for a Maintenance Plan Development Engineer to strengthen our team in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
This is a key role focused on developing and maintaining the foundation of our preventive maintenance strategy – ensuring that our customers’ equipment operates reliably, safely, and efficiently throughout its entire lifecycle.

In this role, you will be central to how maintenance is defined, structured, and executed across our installed base. Working closely with engineering, service, logistics, and customers, you will translate technical insights and data into clear maintenance plans, kits, and documentation that contribute to maximum uptime and customer value.

What will you do

Manage and continuously improve the Master Maintenance Documentation and maintenance plans for JBT Marel equipment;

Define maintenance criteria for components based on supplier data, pressure analyses, FMEA input, and feedback from field service engineers;

Set up and maintain structured maintenance kits tailored to machine configurations and customer needs;

Provide technical support within the service organization, including preparation of maintenance activities, handling complex customer questions, and determining inventory parameters;

Collaborate with customers and internal teams to evaluate maintenance strategies, gather feedback, and improve effectiveness and efficiency;

Identify and support upgrades or improvements (in collaboration with engineering) that increase machine maintainability and uptime;

Develop training materials and provide training on maintenance strategy, inventory advice, machine efficiency, and preventive maintenance activities;

Contribute input for service contract quotations regarding scope (such as replacement parts, kits, and required labor hours) for preventive maintenance.

About you
You are technically curious, structured, and comfortable working with incomplete data to develop practical solutions. You enjoy connecting technical engineering details with real-world execution and customer outcomes.

What you bring

Strong affinity with engineering and technical disciplines, with the ability to think both conceptually and practically;

Advanced Excel skills and experience with data analysis and large datasets;

Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to identify gaps or inconsistencies;

Good command of English and Dutch (spoken and written), and confidence working with engineers, service teams, and customers;

A customer‑oriented mindset, with understanding of how maintenance impacts uptime, costs, and operations;

Ability to work independently and make well‑founded assumptions when necessary;

Willingness to occasionally perform fieldwork to validate and improve maintenance strategies.

Experience & education

Technical education (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or similar);

Experience in maintenance engineering, service engineering, reliability engineering, or a similar technical role;

Familiarity with preventive maintenance, spare parts structures, and service documentation;

Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams within a technical or industrial environment;

Experience with data‑driven maintenance, reliability analysis, or FMEA is a plus.
