LOCATION:

PTX/A/S / Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam (ETCA) The Project Engineer is part of Experimental Installations Department at Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam (ETCA).

ETCA employs around 1200 staff and is the premier technology hub for Shell along with STCH (Houston) and STCB (Bangalore). ETCA is a multi‑user research and testing facility servicing all lines of business to meet the Technology and Research & Development and Innovation goals of Shell with an aim to support the company to develop more and cleaner energy solutions for the future.

ETCA houses state‑of‑the‑art laboratory facilities, and pilot plants with more than 600 research installations covering many different technology areas. As a Project Engineer, you will be exposed to a wide range of Shell operations and new technologies which are crucial to the advancement of Shell. The role provides unique challenges in transforming ideas from our Research & Development colleagues into a safe and innovative design.

By following the Opportunity Realization Standards (ORS) and critical thinking the Project Engineer will engage in activities throughout the lifecycle of a Project Team, executing work in multi‑disciplinary teams including the wider technology network. It is the task of the Project Engineer to provide the required inputs and produce the desired outputs for the different disciplines and be the link between the end user, stakeholders, and the Project Team.

Accountabilities

Engage daily with the Project Team and other Teams in Experimental Installations Department to realize the Project Team goals and Department goals.

Be the focal point between the end users from the Technology Platforms and the Project Team for the realization of R&D units from initial conceptual design to full commissioning and start‑up.

Implement and deploy Shell’s Project Management Framework (PMF) in a fit‑for‑purpose approach across the individual projects in the Project Portfolio.

Work closely with the Planning Engineer and Cost Engineer for preparing integrated schedules and cost estimates for those projects in the Project Portfolio.

Based on progress of projects and changes to the baseline plan, update and make necessary corrections/revisions and report out accordingly to stakeholders. Identify and communicate critical path and propose mitigation plan(s) for those projects that require so.

Develop and communicate frequently to stakeholders the progress on cost and schedule of each project including the status towards achieving key milestones and Value of Work Done.

Conduct risk management workshops, maintain risk register, and track mitigation plans.

Identify, manage, and monitor scope changes together with the Project Team and update the cost and schedules as applicable.

Act as Scrum Master and coordinate the work of the Project Team in line with Agile Ways of Working. Work actively to develop and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Dimensions

Deliver and manage projects related to new research units (approx. 10 to 15 new units per year) at ETCA.

Work on projects with a wide range of monetary values ranging from 0.05 million to 5 million Euros covering technologies from a wide range of the energy sector.

Work with Shell staff and contractors within Experimental Installations Department, stakeholders, Original Equipment Manufacturers, researchers, and business partners in ETCA.

Monitor closely the output of engineers and construction technicians for reporting progress, workload projections and FTE capacity constraints.
