Main tasks and responsibilities
You will focus on supporting the plant operations and improvements in the field of process controls and related instrumentation engineering (including safety systems) covering all aspects from conceptual design, through detailed engineering, implementation and validation, day‑to‑day activities including troubleshooting, and long‑term performance improvements. In this job you will work closely with the Operation Engineers, Maintenance Engineers, Process Engineers, Turnaround Organisation, Operators and resolve issues concerning process control and instrumentation with the Equipment vendors and/or Technical consultants.
You will report to the Automation and Control Lead.
Your role in our team
Provide technical support to maintenance and operation with regard to control loops, related instrumentation, process control and safety systems (DCS, PLC and SIS).
Troubleshoot and resolve related field problems and investigate plant and equipment trips and provide engineering recommendations.
Recommend modifications to improve process control performance and prepare and execute software changes.
Define process control issues as the design basis for setting up or modifying process units.
Elaborate approved (sub) projects in harmony with existing systems.
Interact and cooperate with other engineering disciplines and specialists like operating personnel, maintenance personnel, plant’s HSE personnel, vendors and contractors’ specialists.
Supervise outsourced engineering work and check relevant documents and specifications submitted.
Participate in process risk assessment and SIL.
Prepare loop sheets, alarm lists, control and logic diagrams, control narratives and maintain the plant process automation documentation.
Maintain and contribute professional knowledge related to process control and relevant process controls engineering tools.
After an extensive onboarding participate in the 24/7 on‑call support group.
Keys to success in this role
The best combination of experiences, skills and background is:
Master or Bachelor Degree in Chemical, Process or Automation/Control Engineering.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in process control and safety system design.
Experience or knowledge with DCS, PLC and safety instrumentation systems.
Knowledge of process dynamics, engineering practices and international standards.
Fluency in English and preferably good command of the Dutch language.
Knowledge of project preparation and project reviews.
