Position: Space Avionics Systems Architect (Friedrichshafen, Bremen, or Munich)

About Client  Our client operates in the aerospace and space technology sector, working on complex avionics systems, simulation environments, and engineering tools used across satellite and flight control development.

Role Overview  We are looking for a senior Space Avionics Systems Architect to lead the design and technical definition of spacecraft avionics architectures. The role focuses on on-board computer systems, payload interfaces, high-speed networking, FDIR, system recovery concepts, and mission operations procedures.
This position is suited for an experienced architect or senior consultant with deep background in spacecraft avionics, complex embedded systems, and distributed hardware architectures involving processors, FPGAs/SoCs, and high-speed interfaces.

LOCATIONS: ONSITE Friedrichshafen, Bremen, or Munich, Germany;
Relocation support
NOTES: EU passport needed;
English fluency is required;
German is a plus.
Responsibilities   Lead end-to-end spacecraft avionics architecture definition
Define system decomposition and interface strategy across on-board computers and payloads
Architect high-speed networking payloads, backplanes, and system boot/recovery concepts
Design robust Failure Detection, Isolation, and Recovery strategies, including safe-mode behavior and watchdog concepts
Document and maintain the technical baseline, including architecture diagrams and design justifications
Perform engineering analyses related to radiation tolerance, EMI/EMC, signal integrity, and power distribution
Collaborate with networking, GNC, RF, software, FPGA, and mechanical engineering teams
Support technical decision-making across architecture trade-offs and system constraints
Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or equivalent
10+ years of experience in spacecraft avionics, high-speed digital electronics, or complex embedded hardware systems
Proven experience architecting distributed systems using processors, FPGAs/SoCs, and high-speed interfaces
Expertise with ATOP and MOIS
Expertise with EGS-CC operations procedure language / EAPL
Knowledge of ECSS PUS
Knowledge of ECSS-E-ST-70 guidance
