About the team

Airwallex has a global tax team with different hubs covering for APAC, EMEA and Americas and reporting to the Head of Tax, based in SG.

What you’ll do

Airwallex is looking for a proactive and motivated Senior Tax Manager/ Associate Director with extensive hands‑on local experience and a global mindset to provide tax advice and supporting documentation, compliance, and reporting for existing businesses and new business initiatives. This position will be part of a team that works closely with business partners to understand business initiatives, prepare advice on the associated tax implications, provide actionable guidance and requirements for the business, and support reporting and compliance obligations.

The role reports directly to the Global Head of Tax based in Singapore.

This role will be based in Amsterdam.

Responsibilities:

• Lead complex, high priority projects whilst managing competing priorities – including working across multi-region and cross-functional teams
• Deliver holistic, commercially balanced advice to senior and executive level leadership to devise strategic, technical tax positions
• Analyse and review statutes, regulations and case laws, and extract data make appropriate recommendations in simple terms
• Own all regional (EMEA - which covers NL, UK, LT, IL, KSA, UAE, FR, DE) direct tax, indirect tax, and transfer pricing issues related to current and future Airwallex entities
• Contribute to complex global projects such as M&A transactions, due diligence, or IPO-readiness
• An in-depth, technical knowledge of complex taxation matters, including;
  Direct tax, Indirect tax, International tax and Transfer Pricing
• Demonstrable experience working across multiple timezones, supporting and/or leading on strategic cross-functional projects designed to identify growth opportunity or mitigate risk

Who you are

We're looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters in Finance, Accounting, Tax or another related field
• Previous experience working in at an accounting firm
• Minimum 8/10 years of relevant professional experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Team player mentality and ability to work with individuals across functions and culture

Desired qualifications:

• In-house roles in a high growth company is a plus
