Who we are

At Land Life, our ambition is not just to create positive change, but to inspire it. We're on a mission to restore our planet's 2 billion hectares of degraded land, by planting the right trees, at the right time and in the right place, leveraging technology every step of the way and unlocking carbon and other new markets to fund this work.

Our team is global, our impact is significant; last year we planted 3.5 million trees worldwide and we were recognised as the Uplink Top Innovator at the 2024 World Economic Forum. Now we're looking for an impact-driven Financial Controller to join our Finance team.

About this role

Rigorous financial management is critical to our success and our Finance team play an important part in helping us plan, stay compliant, and spend money wisely. Together with our CFO and the team, this role serves to safeguard the financial integrity of Land Life by ensuring accurate accounting, reliable financial reporting, and strong internal controls.

More specifically, we’ll be looking to you to:

  • Ensure the integrity of our financial reporting and accounting, including financial statements, the general ledger, and relevant reconciliations.
  • Manage projects that require close collaboration with our Delivery and Business Development teams, and having a strong grasp on supply and demand requirements and customer allocations, across our regions.
  • Lead external audit processes, from managing the internal controls and compliance management we need, to managing the relationship with our compiler, to preparing schedules and supporting documents and seeing the process through to resolution.
  • Manage and approve the transactions that keep us going - the alignment and integrity of sales invoices, purchase invoices, the authorisation of expenses and approving payment batches.
  • Manage our budgeting processes and forecasts, month-end and year-end close processes, and supporting strategic financial planning initiatives together with the management team
  • Lead the Finance team in optimizing and improving all our financial systems and processes, and accounting compliance standards (GAAP)
This is you

We’re looking for a critical thinker with a strong sense for accuracy and integrity, who brings a relevant degree (Finance, Accounting or similar), and at least 5 years’ experience managing the financial integrity of their organisation and leading audits. We’re a multinational environment and this role collaborates and communicates at all levels, so proficiency in business English is essential.

What we’re offering you

We are a dynamic company surrounded by people who care. Expect colleagues who are engaged, sharp and - most importantly - take pride in our mission, our work and each other. Our office is at a green and convenient location near the Oosterpark in Amsterdam, where we enjoy walks, lunches and regular social events together. We offer our employees a range of benefits, including a great pension plan, free lunch, public transport subsidies and reasonable flexibility in how you work from the Amsterdam office.

Note the salary range advertised here is indicative of our internal job grade level, and offers made will take into consideration your level of experience and demonstrated impact at that level. All our employment offers begin with initial 1-year definite contracts.

How to apply

We’re looking to fill this position as soon as possible, so interviews will start on a rolling basis. Our recruitment process is fair and thorough, consisting of an initial call to clarify information we both need to decide to proceed, and two in-person interview rounds, involving a case study to give you more detailed insight to the role, and a chance to meet the team and senior leaders.

We welcome different perspectives and experiences because we believe this is the foundation for achieving high-integrity nature restoration  believe in equal opportunities for everyone and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
