How you make impactAs QA Engineer, you test document scanners hardware and software, functionality and performance with Keesing internal software interfaces. You collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers in the product development team to deliver innovative software solutions that meet business and user needs. You will:
- Test and validate scanner hardware across multiple models and Windows OS versions to ensure consistent performance and compatibility;
- Design and document scanner software and hardware deployment packages, including change logs, to guarantee smooth delivery to customers;
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to drivers, firmware, connectivity, document scanning capabilities and chip (RFID) reading inconsistencies, and hardware-software integration with Keesing internal software interfaces;
- Evaluate driver and firmware updates from scanner manufacturers, identifying bugs, regressions, and inconsistencies that may impact functionality or system integration;
- Collaborate with manufacturers’ support teams, software and cloud engineering teams to replicate issues, document findings, and support resolution of scanner issue;
- Design and execute structured test plans
, including edge cases and stress scenarios, to ensure robustness of hardware-software interactions; - Maintain detailed documentation of test results, configurations, anomalies, and recommendations for improvements;
- Write and maintain detailed documentation
, both customer facing and internal documents, on scanner integration, maintenance, usage and troubleshooting; - Participate in the complete software development lifecycle
, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
In order to succeed as QA Engineerin this position, you recognize yourself in the below requirements:
- BSc degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field;
- Minimum of 3 years of software testing experience, preferably in product development settings;
- Hardware testing, problem diagnosis & customer facing experience;
- Expert knowledge of Linux and the Microsoft Windows Operating Systems interaction with USB and network devices;
- Experience with program languages Windows Power Shell is a must, JavaScript and Node are a nice to have;
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to work effectively within a cross-functional team and with your external stakeholders;
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and debug complex hardware issues;
- Detail oriented, pro-active and driven.
In your position, you work together with engineers and developers, and you report directly to the Head of Engineering within the Product Development team. Of course, there are regular check-ins to align on technical objectives, project timelines, and performance metrics.
