Shape responsible AI usage where it matters most
Artificial Intelligence is becoming increasingly important in the way we serve our clients, support our colleagues and improve our internal processes. At the same time, the use of AI systems and underlying models introduces new and evolving operational risks. These risks need to be identified, assessed, managed and monitored in a structured and professional way.

To strengthen our risk management capabilities in this area, we are creating a new team dedicated to AI risk management. This team will be positioned directly under the Chief Risk Officer. For the time being, the team will be managed by CRO IT & Cyber, reflecting the strong connection between AI risk, technology risk, model risk, data, cyber security, governance and operational resilience.

Your job

AI risk management is currently divided into three categories:
1. The strategic risk that an organization faces by not using, or making insufficient use of, AI capabilities;
2. The operational risk that an organization faces by using AI incorrectly or without adequate controls;
3. The operational risk that an organization faces when (malicious) third parties use AI to attack or damage the organization.

The focus of our AI Risk Management team is the work related to the second category.

As AI Risk Manager, you will play a key role in building and expanding our AI risk management practice. You will help shape how our organisation identifies, understands and manages the operational risks that arise from the use of AI systems and the models that underpin them. This is a multidisciplinary field of work, and you will work closely with risk colleagues as well as colleagues in the first line of defence, including CDO, CISO, P&T, client units and support units.

As AI Risk Manager, you are responsible for helping the organisation manage the operational risks related to the use of AI. You will focus on the risks that arise when AI systems and models are applied in business processes, client interactions, decision-making, internal operations and supporting functions. You will contribute to the development of a consistent AI risk management approach across the organisation.

This includes identifying relevant risks, assessing their potential impact, supporting risk owners in defining appropriate controls, and helping to monitor whether AI-related risks remain within risk appetite.

You will also play an important coordination role. AI risk management touches multiple disciplines, including technology, data, cyber security, model risk, compliance, legal, privacy, procurement, architecture, business change and operational risk. You will help connect these perspectives and ensure that AI-related risk topics are addressed in an integrated and effective way.
In this role, you will not only apply existing risk management practices, but also help develop and mature them. You will contribute to frameworks, guidance, reporting, governance and practical ways of working that enable responsible and controlled use of AI across the organisation.

In more detail you will:

  • Identify, assess and manage operational risks related to the use of new and existing AI systems and underlying models.
  • Support the design and implementation of risk frameworks, standards, guidance and governance for AI-related operational risks.
  • Coordinate AI risk management activities across multiple disciplines and organisational units and therefore work closely with other risk colleagues, including specialists in operational risk, IT risk, cyber risk, data risk, model risk, compliance and resilience.
  • Collaborate with first line of defence stakeholders, including CDO, CISO, P&T, client units and support units.
  • Challenge and advise stakeholders on the responsible and controlled use of AI.
  • Contribute to management information, reporting and oversight on AI-related operational risks.
  • Monitor external developments, regulatory expectations and internal policies relevant to AI risk management.
  • Contribute to awareness, knowledge sharing and capability building on AI risk management.
Working environment

You will join a newly created team dedicated to AI risk management. The team will be positioned directly under the CRO and, for the moment, managed by CRO IT & Cyber. This setup reflects the strategic importance of AI risk management and the need to build strong connections across risk, technology, data, security and business domains.

The team will play an important role in expanding the organisation’s AI risk management practice. It will act as a coordinating and enabling team in a multidisciplinary field, bringing together expertise from different functions and helping the organisation manage AI-related risks in a consistent way.

You will work in an environment that is still developing. This means you will have the opportunity to help shape the team, its way of working and its contribution to the organisation. You should be comfortable working in a field where not everything is fully…
